Uma sushi has been blowing up on my instagram with their unique donut sushi aburi creation. It looks beautiful but is it any good? In case you don't know what aburi is, it's passing a torch over the fish to sear it a bit (sometimes with charcoal).
I had a late breakfast but I still needed a lunch so I ordered the aburi sushi lunch special. They also had a daily fish special so I ordered a King Salmon Toro sushi.
The special came with salad and miso soup, both were good.
King Salmon Toro had a nice fatty taste to it. I think if I paid for it to be aburied it would be amazing. In terms of the donut, it had salmon, avocado, seasoning, and roe on the top. On the bottom, it was were the imitation crab was. Overall, it was good, but sort of a novelty. The aburi special also came with nigiri but I was disappointed with the selection. Squid, shrimp, tuna, and saba. It fell short of impressing me.
Out the door price was $20. If I didn't have a late breakfast, I would probably be still hungry.
