140 Character Summary: Menu had tons of variety and options for all sorts of moods. The featured dish was fresh salt spring mussels that were alright. The hot wings had a quality control issue but were okay.
I was recently invited by Tangoo to participate in their #ChewingForCharity charity event. Participating restaurants donated the cost of their special featured dish whenever a diner ordered it.
It was my first time at Eight 1/2 Restaurant Lounge and I've always wondered what it looked like inside. Surprisingly it's pretty spacious inside, nice bar, lots of table seating, intimate lighting, seems like a great place to bring a date.
We ordered the limited edition fresh Salt Spring Island mussels in warm curry bisque with house naan, an order of wings, and a pitcher of the Four Winds Saison. The wings arrived first and my first couple bites felt like they were overcooked. I had two wings that were definitely burnt to a crisp but as I continued to eat, I was able to find better cooked and sauced wings. We ordered the hot flavour and it wasn't too spicy for our taste buds. As for the featured mussels, I was undecided with the first couple bites but it curry got better as I had more and more of it. I enjoyed dipping the naan in the curry bisque though.
